WHY SQUARESPACE IS MY FAV WEBSITE PLATFORM + MY FAV RESOURCES
Squarespace was the first website platform I used when starting to learn website design. I first built a really basic site for a client while googling and watching countless YouTube videos along the way. I then built my own website on Squarespace, the one you are on right now! I think that using it myself is the highest referral I can give to another person. My favorite thing is the incredibly beautiful and user-friendly user interface. This allows the client turn-over to be seamless. There are also so many online resources for how to use and optimize the platform online, this also makes it easier on clients. I also love the support offered by Squarespace + the Circle. Overall, I have found Squarespace to be the most beautiful, accessible, + supportive platform to use.
Tips
Tip #1: Make sure you pick the right template as a base.
With the new version of Squarespace, you are locked into the template you first pick. I recommend using this template guide to make sure it has the correct elements + abilities you are looking for. They aren't all built the same.
Tip #2: Make sure you know all the tools in your box
The spacer + duplicate tools are overlooked a lot and they can really be your friend. These are just two examples. It is important to know all the resources Squarespace has to offer. I recommend this overview video + the whole series.
Tip #3: Customize
A little customization goes a long way. Customize your 404 page, footer, and make your buttons unique. Add some illustrations + make your about you page fun!
Tip #4: Take Professional Photos
No matter if you are a product or service-based business, or just building a personal website -- spend the money on hiring a professional photographer. Squarespace sites are beautiful but they can be gorgeous with the right photos!
